bullet.gif (868 bytes) Workshop Abstract

This workshop covers the various aspects of software project risk management as required for project leaders. It briefly discusses the business risk and product risk management before going into project risk management.

The business risk overview discusses the methods used by business entrepreneurs in changing risks into profits and the need to be willing to adapt products to a constantly evolving market place.

The product risk management section discusses the risks that are inherent to the product itself and covers topics such as the need to establish key requirements and how to adapt limited resources to the most important features.

The main part of the workshop focuses on the actual project management risks and how to identify and manage them. These are the risks that could severely impact the successful outcome of the project in terms of quality, cost, or schedule. Key concepts, activities and techniques for identifying and estimating risks, planning and estimating contingency plans are presented, as well as the basic requirements for tracking the risks and the contingency plans throughout the software development lifecycle.
