Dutch CMM Lead Evaluator Training & Guidance Programme

The Dutch CMM Lead Evaluator Programme consists of three phases:

1. The Initial CMM Evaluator Training Phase, during which you receive basic CMM- and Evaluation-training. The initial CMM Evaluator Training is offered through public courses. For enrolling in the second phase, successful completion of the first phase is mandatory, unless you have already followed "SEI's Introduction to the CMM" and official "SEI-SCE" training elsewhere.
2. The CMM Evaluator Guidance phase. During this phase you are mentored to become an independent CMM-evaluator, and your skills are brought to the level where you can enroll in the SEI Lead Evaluator Course. After succesful completion of phase two, your organization can take an SCE Licence Contract for the independent usage of all ISPI's SCE-materials.
3. The CMM Lead Evaluator Monitoring & Registration Phase. During this phase you are mentored and evaluated until you are officially registered as an SEI-authorized Lead Evaluator.
     

Prerequisites for becoming an SEI-Authorized Lead Evaluator

Aspirant CMM-Evaluators who wish to enroll in the SEI's Lead Evaluator Programme must fulfil the following SEI-requirements:

• a minimum ten years of software engineering experience in software development or maintenance in an appropriate technical area, e.g., software design, software quality assurance, requirements analysis, configuration management, and testing
• a minimum two years of experience managing software development personnel
• an advanced degree or equivalent experience in an appropriate technical area
• successful completion of the SEI course Introduction to the CMM
• verified participation as an SCE team member in at least two CBA SCE's within two years prior to applying to the program (SEI verifies from the Process Appraisal Information System (PAIS)).

ISPI and SPI Partners will support and guide you with reaching the two last prerequisites for entering the SEI Lead Assesor Programme.

	Phase One: Initial CMM Evaluator Training Phase
Step 1.1	You have checked whether you fulfil the first three SEI-requirements (above) for entering the SEI Lead Evaluator Programme. If you haven't yet, you will follow the SEI's Introduction to the CMM course. Completion of this course will fulfil the fourth SEI-requirement for enrolling the SEI Lead Evaluator Programme.
Step 1.2	You follow ISPI's Software Capability Evaluation (SCE) - Evaluator course. After completion of this course you have been trained in conducting CMM SCE's.
	Phase Two: CMM Evaluator Guidance Phase
Step 2.1	You decide to continue the CMM Lead Evaluator Education Programme. Your organization closes a contract with ISPI and SPI Partners for your enrolling into the CMM Lead Evaluator Guidance Programme. Under this contract it is agreed that: Your organization obtains the selling rights of the AFA-method. You will sell the SCE-method, and you close SCE-contracts with your customers (if necessary, ISPI and SPI Partners will help you to do the selling part). ISPI and SPI Partners will coach you during three SCE's: We provide the necessary Lead Evaluators, Evaluators and Instructors for your Evaluation Team. Two of the three guided SCE's take place during phase two. The final SCE takes place during phase three. The fee for the ISPI/SPI Partners' Evaluators and instructors is based on a daily rate only. If no SCE's take place, there are no costs. Up to three junior evaluators of your organization can be coached under one SCE Guidance Contract (without extra cost).
	SCE Licence Contract
	After the succesful completion of the CMM Evaluator Guidance Phase, your organization is entitled to take an SCE Licence Contract for your company's independent usage of  ISPI's supporting tools. The SCE-tools can be used for both Software Capability Evaluations (SCE). The tools consist of:

	The price for the Licence Contract is US$ 10.000,-. There is NO annual fee. The ISPI SCE-tools are improved continuously (e.g. when CMM version 2 will be released). Updates of ISPI's SCE-tools can be ordered for $1.000,-.
	Phase Three: SEI Lead Evaluator Evaluation and Registration Phase
Step 3.1	Having completed two SCE's of which the results have been reported back to the SEI's Process Appraisal Information System (PAIS), you now fulfil all SEI-prerequisites and you enroll in the SEI Lead Evaluator Programme. You follow the Lead Evaluator Course at the SEI.
Step 3.2	You have now completed the SEI Lead Evaluator course. Before being admitted as a SEI-Lead Evaluator, you still have to execute one more SCE in which you take the role of lead evaluator. During this third Guided Evaluation your performance is now reviewed by a Lead Evaluator of ISPI or SPI Partners (under the agreed upon CMM Lead Evaluator Guidance Contract of step 3).
Step 3.3	Upon successful completion of the third SCE, the Lead Evaluator will report the positive result back to the SEI. You are now ready to register as an SEI-Authorized Lead Evaluator.
