"Practical Insight into CMMI" (value USD 79,00)
This course is organized by SPI Partners BV in The Netherlands and it is presented by Tim Kasse under the Kasse Intitiatives LLC Transition Partner Licence with the Software Engineering Institute.
This four-day workshop consists of the official three days SEI Introduction to the CMMI (continuous representation) class, extended with one day of deeper knowledge transfer and discussion of the CMMI process area's and practices at CMMI capabililty levels 2 and 3.
Target Audience
This training is highly recommended for all Lead Assessors
and process improvement consultants who have previous experience with other models such as
CMM for Software (SW-CMM), Systems Engineering CMM (EIA 731), Integrated Process and
Product (IPD-CMM), SPICE (15504), or BOOTSTRAP and who are interested in supporting
organizations process improvement initiatives utilizing an integrated capability
maturity model. Assessment teams who are going to be using the CMMI-based assessment
method in the future will benefit from this course.
It is useful for SEPG members who wish to evolve into Engineering Process Group members to
support their organizations integrated Systems and Software development efforts.
Quality Managers and Configuration Management Managers will also benefit from attending
this detailed workshop as they evolve to support their organizations process and
product development and not restrict themselves to focusing on software only.
The course is a mandatory requirement for those who want to become CMMI SCAMPI Lead
Assessor.
Course Description
With CMMI-SE/SW V1.1 (released August 2001), organizations currently using different models for separately improving systems engineering and software engineering will be able to use the integrated model to improve, train, and assess processes more commonly and consistently. Use of this CMMI model supports enterprise-wide improvement by enabling the integrated assessment of both systems and software engineering. The integrated model incorporates the best features of the source models from which it is derived [Capability Maturity Model for Software (SW-CMM®) V2.0 draft C and EIA/IS-731 Systems Engineering Capability Model (SECM)]. This new model will enable organizations to build on previous investments in improvement based on the SW-CMM V1.1 or the SECM, and at the same time to benefit from the standardization and commonality of the integrated model.
This training provides an in-depth look at the details of the CMMI. Participants will receive background and insight into the details of the CMMI and will engage in discussions of the engineering principles behind the guidance the CMMI provides.
The course discussion emphasizes understanding of the six maturity levels of the CMMI and their characteristic process areas (PA's). The CMMI-SE/SW has both a staged and a continuous representation. Both representations are addressed during the course, but the main focus is on the Continuous representation.
The course is composed of lectures and class exercises with ample opportunity for participant questions and discussions. The course is helpful in identifying issues that should be addressed in performing software and systems engineering process improvement as structured by the CMMI. The number of participants is typically limited to no more than 24 per class to allow participants the maximum opportunity to ask questions and raise issues.
The course will be presented in English.
